"I want to say a big thank you for all your help over the past few weeks. I thought the day was fabulous and you worked your heart out on Friday." Sue Sayers, Mother of Bride
Martine & Jay had entered, and been one of three winning couples in, a competition to win £3,000 and a chance to organise their wedding on Wedding TV.
Each couple chose a small team of close family and friends to work with a wedding planner, Sandy of ternevents in this case.
Over a ten week period the teams, not the couples, would make all the decisions about the wedding, with guidance and advice from ternevents.
Incredibly Sandy and the team managed to put together the wedding for a staggeringly low £2,740, with lots of negotations, deals and bartering of services.
Lains Barn was the venue the couple had always wanted to marry at, and the team managed to make their dream come true.
Photographer Nigel Dawson had, at the time, not been working in the wedding sector and was keen to begin doing so. As such he had advertised an opportunity for a handful of couples to have their wedding photos taken for just the cost of the album, which of course was perfect for Martine & Jay.
A local butcher had just set up shop locally and gave us an enormous pig for a hog roast at cost.
Members of the team, including the bride's grandmother, made and decorated the cake and arranged all the flowers, with Martine's Mum collecting and painting many horseshoes in the colour scheme for the day to use as decoration and favours.
Transportation was very much a done deal from the outset, as Martine is a keen horsewoman, thus her beautiful mare brought her to the wedding.
Sandy's absolute favourite Registrar organised for Martine to sign the relevant papers in the horsebox just prior to the wedding which meant Martine could ride into the venue and go straight into the ceremony.
ternevents is glad to have led the team to victory, beating the other two wedding teams thus gaining the best prize, of a splendid free honeymoon, for Martine & Jay.
